My responsibilities were to perform EMI/EMC testing on a variety of Honeywell Aerospace and Defense related products to MIL-STD-461D thru G, RTCA DO-160D thru G, as well as Boeing test standards.  These tests included Formal Qualification, Safety of Flight, and Engineering requirements.  This testing involved Radiated and Conducted Emissions, Radiated and Conducted Susceptibility, ESD and In-direct Lightning to these various military Defense, Space and occasionally commercial requirements.  Documentation of all testing in laboratory log books, filling out of appropriate data sheets and photographing of test setups, as well as writing/updating of EMI test procedures.  Troubleshooting and investigation of EMI out of spec conditions when required.  Additional duties entailed travel to other Honeywell locations to lend help and support when needed.

Performed EMI/EMC, Power Input, ESD and In-direct Lightning testing on avionic systems to RTCA DO160D/E/F, as well as Airbus ABD100.1.8.1B and Boeing test standards. Responsible for setup, test execution, data capture and photographic documentation of testing.

Performed Radiated and Conducted Emissions / Radiated and Conducted Susceptibility and ESD testing on various products to MIL-STD 461/462 and RTCA DO-160 requirements.  Other duties included writing test summaries, as well as offering assistance in resolving customer failures.

2004 - 2005                                                      EMI / EMC Test Consultant/Contractor INDEPENDENT/SELF                                     Clearwater, FL

Contracted by Key Safety Systems, Inc. in Lakeland, FL to perform ESD tests on Airbag Inflator modules. Testing was performed to GM automotive EMC specifications as required and was performed using a NoiseKen ESS 2000 ESD Simulator.

Contracted to write Ford EMC Test Plan for Key Safety Systems, Inc. in Hamlin, MI for Teleflex shifter. Test Plan was written to Ford's EMC Test Specification ES-XW7T-1A278-AB.

Performed pre-compliance testing and consulting for Honeywell on the Wabco Train controller. The testing consisted of radiated immunity to IEC 61000-4-3 standard. The testing was performed in an EMCO 5305 GTEM cell and using an EMC Automation Test System and AR Isotropic probe. Worked with design engineer to mitigate immunity failure issues on controller prior to accompanying unit to certified EMI test lab for final compliance testing.

2002 - 2004                                                     Senior EMI Technologist

In charge of EMI/EMC Laboratory to conduct EMI/EMC testing on automotive safety restraint systems and components to meet individual automotive standards. Responsible for writing EMC Design Verification requirements as well as the final EMC Product Verification report. Additional duties included milling prototype PCB's for new product, maintaining calibration of current test equipment, EMI testing for third-party companies and working with engineering on other non-emc projects.

1989 - 2002                                                     EMC Engineer/MTS

Responsible for testing and certifying products to all applicable EMC Domestic and International standards. These regulatory standards included, but were not limited to, FCC Part 15, CISPR 22, VCCI, IEC, EU/CE Mark emission and immunity requirements. Additional duties included working with engineering to provide insight to potential EMI problems during prototype development, and finding appropriate corrections for EMI related failures. Responsible for writing and filing the necessary certification reports with the appropriate agencies. Responsible for bringing the EMI test facility to State-of-the-Art status. Coordinated and tested products for third-party companies when workload allowed. Supervised and guided EMI technician(s) in responsibilities and duties. Acquired and maintained site certifications for both the OATS and Semi-Anechoic Test Chamber as well as the NVLAP Accreditation for the laboratory. Maintained database for calibration of test equipment.

1984 - 1989                                                     Senior EMC Technician

In charge of the EMI / Safety Lab to conduct all necessary regulatory tests for FCC / UL Certifications. Duties included finding appropriate corrections for EMI / ESD / Safety related failures as well as working with engineering to provide insight of possible EMI problems during prototype stage.

Responsible for the development and layout of the Color CRT Deflection board for the PC-4 Personal Computer. Duties included debugging and troubleshooting 1st "B" model boards, plus meeting with specific vendors.

Responsible for diagnosing and repairing Analog, Digital and Microprocessor based machines. Experienced in operating computer test system for analyzing electronic circuits. Since employment with NCR, I have advanced from entry-level technician to the highest grade level technician offered by NCR.
